Buying an ozone generator

Buying an ozone generator can be tricky. There are ozone generators that are manufactured with pure ozone output that could be used for Ozone Therapy Applications, however there are many ozone generators that are advertised for use for Ozone Therapy which are not suitable. It is your task as a consumer to sort through the ozone generators advertised for sale to discover which ones fit the specifications for Ozone Therapy.

For example, UV Ozone Generators are inexpensive to manufacture, and therefore extremely inexpensive to purchase. Some UV Ozone Generators are being sold for R1000 – R3000. This sounds like the ideal item to purchase, until one realizes that they will not work for Ozone Therapy. This is due to the inarguable fact that there is no possible way that a UV Ozone Generator can manufacture sufficient concentrations of ozone  for Ozone Therapy.
Where most ozone therapy applications require at least 30 ug/ml of pure contaminant free ozone, UV Ozone Generators can produce at most 2- 5 ug/ml; far below the necessary concentrations. These UV Ozone Generators are attractive due to their low cost, however they will not provide you with the benefits that you are seeking.

Similarly, there are generators being sold in SA for “insufflation treatments” ranging from R2500 – R6500 and yet they do not have any kind of verifiable ozone output statistics. This means that, at best, they may be ineffective, but the real risk is that, particularly with insufflation treatments, if the concentration levels are too high you could actually damage the colon irreversibly.
An easy way to identify these generators is that the suppliers will always quote the output as an industrial measurement of “microgrammes per hour”, eg. 600mg/h and this is NOT how Medical Ozone is measured and no ozone treatment protocols are detailed in this manner, so, when buying an ozone generator this should be your 1st sign that it is not suitable for responsible therapeutic use.

When buying an ozone generator choose your generator and supplier extremely carefully. You must ensure that it is manufactured by a reputable company with strict quality controls, and you need to ensure that it produces pure contaminant free ozone in the concentrations that you require for successful use of the ozone.

THE IMPORTANCE OF ETL APPROVED EQUIPMENT:

NO ETL APPROVAL = RED FLAG!

PLEASE NOTE WHEN BUYING AN OZONE GENERATOR : ANY ozone generating equipment used for therapeutic purposes MUST use medical grade oxygen as it’s feed source. If not, it will in all probability generate Nitric Acid as well as other toxic by-products and this will be detrimental to your health and recovery.

In addition to that, MEDICAL GRADE OZONE GENERATORS are constructed entirely of ozone resistant materials which again ensures that there are no toxic by-products in the final ozone product caused by the oxidation of the internal parts of the equipment. This toxicity can outweigh the benefits of the therapy.

ETL Approved:
The ozone generator industry is unregulated has more than its share of “home made” products on the market. If the products you are about to purchase has no seal of safety or quality, if the factory has never been inspected by anyone.you have no assurance that the product you are about to purchase is quality at all. It is likely home made in a garage or basement!

The ETL Logo is your proof of Quality, Safety, and professional manufacturing our ozone generators. You don’t have to blindly accept anyone’s word that their Ozone Generators are quality and professionally produced. You can think of the ETL Inspectors as your eyes into their operation. They have placed their seal of quality and safety on these products because they have inspected both the products and the factory.

What does “ETL Approved” mean?
ETL Approval is an internationally recognized seal of Quality, Safety, and Professional Manufacturing.

It is only granted to companies after rigorous inspections and testing of the product.
The product is taken from the company and completely disassembled. All components and the way that they have been assembled (right down to the wires) are inspected and compared to Canadian and US regulations.
If the product passes, the factory is then inspected for professionalism and to ensure that quality controls are in place. These quality controls in the factory ensure that every single instrument is the same high quality as the last one that was produced.
In order to keep the ETL Approval, Intensive Factory surprise inspections take place 4 times per year. If the factory does not pass, the ETL Approval is revoked.

When buying an ozone generator:
If you are considering buying an ozone generator with no ETL, CSA, UL, or CE Approval, then you may wish to consider this: no quality or safety approval, means no ongoing inspections of product or factory. The only way to ensure you are buying a quality product is to purchase only quality and safety approved products.
